Habitat for Humanity International is a humanitarian aid organization founded in the U.S. in 1976. Working in nearly 80 countries, Habitat partners with families in need of decent housing to build affordable and sustainable homes.
Nissan's partnership with Habitat for Humanity International began in 2006 when Nissan North America supported Habitat's efforts in areas affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Since then, Nissan North America has donated a total of $8 million U.S (640 million JPY). Three years ago, the partnership went global with projects first in Australia and then in countries around the world.
In 2012, Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd announced a $1million U.S. (80 million JPY) global partnership to launch joint projects in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Nissan also works with Habitat for Humanity Japan, a regional branch of Habitat for Humanity International, to support areas affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.
